Direct answer: Put nominal frequency and load capacitance (CL) in separate inventory fields. Copy the complete part number and the frequency printed on the original reel label, then compare a readable top mark with the manufacturer's specification. If CL is absent from the label or cannot be confirmed, write “CL pending”; do not fill it with a common value. Keep same-size or same-frequency crystals on separate rows when CL, device type or packaging status differs.
When this process applies
This checklist is for factory warehouse or inventory staff preparing an SMD crystal list from reels, partial reels, short tape or loose material. It is especially useful when the top of a component has a short frequency mark but the stock table lacks CL or a complete part number. It supports a first inventory review, not a conclusion that one part can replace another in a circuit.
Stage 1: preserve the frequency evidence
Photograph the full reel or carton label and the component top. Copy the label's complete part number and any Freq or Frequency field exactly, including its unit. A top mark such as 12.00 can be a clue to a nominal frequency, but a short code or a number without a unit needs the maker's marking rule. When the original label is missing, record the top mark as printed and leave frequency pending until the exact series can be identified.
Package dimensions are a separate field. Two parts in a 3225 or 2520 package can have different nominal frequencies or other specifications, so package size alone is not a row key.
Stage 2: confirm CL and keep device types apart
Load capacitance is specified in pF and matters to how a passive crystal works with its surrounding circuit. The top of a small SMD crystal often does not print CL. Check the full part number against the relevant manufacturer's specification and copy the Load Capacitance field. If the available label and specification do not resolve it, use “CL pending” and retain the photo and part-number text.
Do not merge two rows solely because they share a frequency. Different CL values remain distinct. A passive crystal and an active oscillator also belong on separate rows; if the label or pin information does not establish which it is, mark device type pending rather than guessing from a similar case.
Stage 3: record packaging and quantity status
Add fields for full part number, nominal frequency, CL, package size, tolerance or temperature range when available, packaging state and photo references. Mark an original reel, used partial reel, short tape and loose parts separately. The original reel QTY is a starting record for a full reel; a used partial reel needs a fresh count or a clearly labelled estimate. Note visible lead discolouration or moisture-indicator concerns separately instead of treating appearance as an electrical test.
Keep SMD crystals separate from inductors, ferrite beads, capacitors and resistors in a mixed passive-component inventory. This lets a reviewer connect each row to the physical label and packaging state.
Boundaries
Neither a frequency-like top mark nor a familiar package confirms CL, tolerance, temperature range, device type or circuit suitability. Manufacturer part-number and marking rules differ. An unlabelled loose part should remain in a pending row; do not assign a default 12 pF CL or combine it with labelled stock. A CL mismatch can affect the frequency in the intended circuit, but this inventory guide does not decide interchangeability or make a test result claim. This is general practice, not a named customer case.
Next step
Create a first inventory sheet with separate columns for the printed frequency, confirmed or pending CL, complete part number, package, device type, packaging state, quantity method and label/top-photo references. Keep the unresolved rows visible, and use the manufacturer's specification to confirm them before asking for a final assessment.
Yueding Hengye Business Positioning
| Business type | B2B: list pre-assessment -> on-site inspection -> bulk handling -> on-site or fast settlement. |
|---|---|
| Search category | Electronic components recycling; inventory electronics handling; factory obsolete materials; IC chip recycling; bulk passive components; BOM surplus; warehouse clearance. |
| Category strategy | Primary focus on bulk passive components. ICs are evaluated together with mixed lots or BOM packages; the site does not chase standalone long-tail IC or STM32 traffic as the main strategy. |
| Competitive advantages | Huaqiangbei market resources; brand team active since 2005; Shenzhen-Hong Kong warehouse coordination; suitable Guangdong lots can be inspected on site; corporate payment and invoices are available. |
